WRLDs is offering a series of seminars exploring Social Media. Our first seminar will provide an introduction to the technologies of Web 2.0, including:

Blogging, Twitter, Facebook, del.icio.us, YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, FriendFeed, Second Life and more…

The seminar will provide a practical overview of Social Media for those considering expanding their work or business to include these approaches. As an introductory workshop, we are assuming you have little or no experience with Social Media, or have some experience, but would like to explore how these media can be further utilized. We will also include the future of Social Media, with a discussion on the third decade of the Web, or Web 3.0., (The Semantic Web).

It is important to understand these technologies and their ability to determine the credibility of both individuals and businesses through Open ID, clout ratings, and other unregulated rating schemes.

These are lively, engaging, interactive seminars!

This seminar will consider the following questions:

  • What is the current landscape of Social Media?
  • What does it offer for a business and is the profit sustainable?
  • Who are the leading companies and innovators?
  • What are the technologies of Social Media?
  • What and who is needed to include Social Media in your business environment?
  • Social Media is part of the second decade of the Web, (Web 2.0). What is coming in Web 3.0?

Faculty

The seminar will be lead by Marta Lyall, who has served on the faculty of the University of Washington, and Carnegie Mellon University. She also lectured and presented in Japan and Europe.
