WRLDs is offering a series of seminars exploring topics on the stock market for those outside the financial sector. This seminar will provide an introduction to Japanese Candlestick charts. It is intended for non-professionals who have an interest in learning more about the markets, and how they function.

Japanese Candlestick analysis provides a useful framework for interpreting and anticipating short-term shifts in the stock market. It would not be the only method used, but does provide a useful toolbox, based on a simple and beautiful set of visual metaphors.

This seminar will cover the following:

  • The History of Japanese Candlestick Charting
  • The Difference Between Technical and Fundamental Analysis.
  • The Anatomy of a Candlestick.
  • Reversal Patterns, Stars, Continuation Patterns, Doji’s
  • Candlestick Charting and Short-term Trends.

Faculty

The seminar will be lead by Marta Lyall, who has served on the faculty of the University of Washington, and Carnegie Mellon University. She also lectured and presented in Japan and Europe. In addition to her former faculty work, she earned her National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) licenses and worked for a brokerage firm, in order to better understand markets and their impact on our culture. Most recently, she founded WRLDs LLC, an organization whose goal is to provide transparency within complex cultural trends, fields of study and technologies.
